A great game that some feminists and the PTA and everybody else with a hair up their ass made a big deal out of. You can shoot people, do missions for gangs, hijack cars. and pick up hookers. Some parents blame murders that their kids commited on the game-far be it from them to admit tha their kids might've had a PROBLEM. Its just a video game and it isnt real. Overall one of the best games ever made, and since its release ther have been many Grand Theft Auto-style games that were much worse than GTA, but there was NO controversy, but whenever a GTA game comes out they have a prob. So. protesters, FUCK YOU.

First developed for the PC in 1996, GTA created a huge storm with it's ground breaking violence, just like Mortal Kombat before it. Even though it branded an '18' certificate, there was still outrage. It was when it hit the PSone that things really started to get stirred up. On the Daily Mail (England) the words 'Evil "Game"'. When GTA london hit the shelves, again the Daily Mail were the first to brand it with a mark. "An addition to the evil." it said, reffering to that it was the first add-on pack ever made. GTA2, and it had all calmed down a bit. There was still some anger though. When Driver wowed the crowds with it's 3D graphics and smooth handling, Rockstar knew they had to come up with a solution. So they decided to make it 3D. No suprises there then. But Rockstar also decided that they would put thier next game where they knew it would sell well. That place was the next gen console. Being faithful to Sony and the PC, they put their game on those two systems. They knew it would sell well. But they didn't know it would sell as well as it did. If you had told Rockstar that thier game would sell 8 million copies, they would have laughed at you and called security. But that is what happened. Think about that for a second. That is a LOT of money. You pay £40 for a new game, and 8 million copies were sold. How much money is that? £320000000. [Dan Houser] must be laughing. The controversy this caused was outstanding. 'The Evil Returns in 3 Dimensions' screamed the Daily Mail. Of course, they had to make a sequel. So they did. It was anticipated a little bit. The gameplay was slightly improved. Rockstar made a little bit of money. Its quite a good game. BRING ON SAN ANDREAS\!\!\!\!\!\!\!\!\!

A really good videogame series (refering to GTA3 and all successors) that throws you into a parody of some major US city where you make a shitload of money by stealing, drug-dealing, shooting-up rival gangs and preforming various other errands for criminals, gangs, and other scumbags, and then just wreak havok or screw a hooker in your spare time. Plagued (along with every other videogame in history) by a fanbase that consists primarily of hyperactive, crack-addicted 12-year-old boys who couldn't pass a 1st grade spelling-bee if their lives depended on it. Yeah, you all know who you are. The majority of the game's "mature" players must not frequent Internet forums that often. Oh, and this series also seems to routinely get blamed for the idiotic actions of a few Rednecks and urban white trash by gun control freaks and suburban pussies who want to punish everyone in the world for the misdeeds of a few dozen morons.

GTA is really good stress therapy if you have to drive 40 miles through some of the shittiest traffic in your region to get to work each day.

Awesomeness. A great game series (at least Grand Theft Auto III and on) in which you can do whatever you want. Complete freedom. Jack a car/truck/van/motorbike/what the hell ever on the streets. All the installations of the game involve the player controlling a random guy whose main objective is to get big in the gang/jet set society. The series is overall good, albeit extremely overrated and touted as the “Best Game Ever” without clear foundations. GTA is designed with commerce in mind, featuring violence, cursing, whores... All those protesters who whine about the game promoting murder and polluting the minds of children don’t know a thing of what they say. GTA3 takes place at Liberty City in 1997. Liberty City is New York in our world. GTA4 takes place at Vice City in 1986. Vice City is Miami in our world. GTA5 takes place at San Andreas in 1992. San Andreas is Los Angeles in our world. In GTA 4 and 5, they named it "Vice City" and "San Andreas" instead of 4 and 5, I guess it sells better like that.

Critics only like it and inflate all the scores because of the same reason as nerds, it's unique, you are notthe bad guy in real-time shooters. So yeah, please, for the love of god, look past the influence, and see the real falws, GFX suxks, Controls suck, Music is only ok, So who cares about hot cofee, I don't find the girls in that game hot. Rating: 6.5/10

GTA is sooo overrated.
